# EAN Check

> Free barcode tools at eancheck.com: check digit calculator, barcode identifier, Amazon LPN checker, UPC-E converter, GTIN repair, ISBN converter, GS1-128 parser and GS1 Digital Link generator, plus a print-ready barcode generator. Every tool runs in the browser; nothing a visitor types or uploads is sent to a server, except a message they send through a feedback box.

EAN Check is run from Sweden and has been online since 2018. The tools follow the GS1 General Specifications. Answers are computed by the same code a visitor uses on the page.

## Standards reference

- GTIN (Global Trade Item Number): GS1 product number in 8, 12, 13 or 14 digits, the last one a mod-10 check digit.
- EAN-13 and UPC-A: the retail barcodes for GTIN-13 and GTIN-12. At 100% magnification the narrowest bar is 0.330 mm and an EAN-13 is 37.29 by 25.93 mm with quiet zones; GS1 allows 80% to 200%.
- ITF-14: carton barcode for GTIN-14, X from 0.495 to 1.016 mm, bars always 31.75 mm tall, with a bearer box.
- GS1-128 and GS1 DataMatrix: carry Application Identifiers such as (01) GTIN, (17) expiry date and (10) batch.
- GS1 Digital Link: a web address with the GTIN in the path, used in QR codes on packaging.
